Nicole Smith is an experienced attorney whose practice spans all aspects of labor and employment law. She counsels clients concerning discrimination and wage and hour issues, labor and employment matters that arise in the course of corporate mergers and acquisitions, federal contracting issues, and commercial real estate transactions, as well as assisting with all legal aspects of traditional labor, such as union avoidance, counseling, negotiations, arbitrations, and unfair labor practice charges. Ms. Smith also prepares executive agreements, and counsels and litigates matters arising from the various statutes overseen by the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL), e.g. the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).
  
Occupational safety is a particular area of concentration for Ms. Smith.  She frequently represents companies in the aftermath of major workplace accidents, including industrial mishaps resulting in serious injuries and fatalities.  Ms. Smith is often among the first company representatives to the scene, serving as the point person interacting with OSHA and local authorities, conducting internal investigations, and coordinating with the client on addressing public relations matters.  Ms. Smith is able to protect the client’s interests in the midst of crisis, while being sensitive to co-workers and others who may have been affected by the event.

Ms. Smith also has extensive experience working with in-house counsels and human resources professionals on a daily basis by providing counseling on a wide range of employment matters, including compliance with local, state and federal laws, personnel matters, and management-labor relations. In addition, she works closely with in-house professionals to prepare personnel policies and procedures.
