nicole a. Smith

Nicole is an experienced attorney who handles a full range of labor and employment law matters, including advising clients with union issues.

A particular area of focus for Nicole is advising employers on OSHA-related risk and compliance. Even the most vigilant, employee-centric companies can experience a workplace accident, which invariably draws the attention of OSHA and other safety regulators. If not properly addressed from the onset, OSHA investigations can cost substantial employee goodwill and reputational damage, and expose businesses to civil liability and criminal prosecution.  Nicole is regarded as an experienced "first responder" for companies facing serious worker safety matters.

Prior to starting her own firm, Nicole was an equity partner at DLA Piper and Venable, LLP, and a Shareholder at Vedder Price. She received her Juris Doctorate degree from Georgetown University Law Center and she is licensed to practice law in Maryland and the District of Columbia.

In addition to her practice, Nicole volunteers as a board member and general counsel for the National Capital Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America. She is also a board member of the National Children's Medical Center and a member of the International Women's Forum.

Nicole resides in Virginia and when not working, Nicole enjoys spending time with family and friends, playing golf, and loves watching professional and college football, especially SEC football.
